The honest version
Most small businesses still run time on a paper book, a WhatsApp group and somebody’s memory. That holds up until an hour is disputed, a public holiday lands mid-week, or a manager quietly approves their own overtime. Time Is Money keeps the record straight so the argument never starts.
How it works
STEP 01
Company, branches, pay period and week start. Choose your overtime rules and your own wage floor — South African defaults are pre-filled, and every one of them is yours to change.

STEP 02
Add people one at a time, or paste a spreadsheet. Everything is checked before a single record is written — duplicate ID numbers, missing rates, dates that make no sense — and you see exactly what will be created.
Row 12 — no hourly rate, and no job role to inherit one from. Rows 19 and 24 — duplicate ID number.
STEP 03
Every job role carries a default hourly rate, and any employee’s contract can override it. Rates are effective-dated, so a raise in October never rewrites what September already cost you.
September timesheets keep R38,50. Nothing recalculates behind you.
STEP 04
Staff clock from a shared tablet at the till or their own phone. Hours build into a timesheet as the week runs, exceptions surface as they happen, and a manager approves once. Nobody approves their own.

Free.
All of it.
No card, no trial clock, no feature held back for a paid tier that doesn’t exist. If that ever changes, businesses already on the free plan keep what they have.

Questions
Free, with every feature switched on. There is no paid tier today. If one ever arrives it will be for things that cost money to run — SMS, payroll integrations — and businesses already on the free plan keep what they have.
No. You set your own hourly rates, per job role and per employee. The wage floor is a setting: pre-filled with the national minimum wage because most South African businesses want the warning, but you can change the figure, tell it to warn instead of block, or switch it off entirely.
Yes — that is the normal case, not an edge case. Add them individually, or paste a spreadsheet with names, ID numbers, start dates, job roles and rates. The import is validated and previewed first, and you can fix the problem rows without starting over.
You add a new rate with the date it takes effect. Timesheets already costed at the old rate keep it. Nothing is overwritten, so last month’s numbers still reconcile to what you actually paid.
Clock events are captured on the device and queued. When the connection returns they are submitted in order, duplicates are discarded and the timesheet is rebuilt. Both the device time and the time the server received it are kept, so a dispute can be settled with evidence rather than memory.
Only the roles you grant it to. Rates, banking details and disciplinary records are each separately permissioned, and the same rule is applied to the screen, the export and the API — hiding a column is not a control.
